Green Africa Schools

Green Africa Global Foundation has implemented Green School program in around 10 schools in Kawangware, Dagoretti and Kangemi slum areas, and it has covered nearly 4,000 students under its environmental and health programs.

Organizing health and environmental camps, as well as free medicine and health care for students, has so far been done in more than 5 schools. A health and environmental Camp for the Heshima Kenya Refugees is another major achievement of the NGO, aimed to improve the quality of life of people in local communities .

In each of these schools, after assessing the initial conditions of the school in different aspects of health, water, soil and waste, we do pre – evaluation. And then related trainings will be provided specifically about waste management, water sanitation and hygiene, which are the main challenges in the slums areas. After the training, we do post evaluation and analyze on how effective the program has been and simultaneously find out what further steps are to be taken in future.

Workshops for teachers and school staff , to create green work group and environmental club are one of the many other activities we have accomplished.
Clean ups and green festivals, drawing and modeling competitions from recycled materials and soccer matches with health and environmental messages are part of the green activities we are implementing.

Protecting natural resources and improving the health and life of individuals will not be achieved except by empowering and enhancing their knowledge.

It is essential to use the rich cultures of local communities and their cooperation.
